Story of Sam B!

Mr B., Sam, had humble beginnings in Carmel, CA where he opened his first music store called The Guitar Shop. Later he moved back to the Bay Area and opened his Walnut Creek storefront in 1974. Dad loved to play guitar since a young age, he even used to play in Golden Gate Park in the late 1960s! He was a huge Beatles fan and even saw them perform their final concert at Candlestick. Dad was a known figure in the Walnut Creek community with one of the last running full service music shops. He grew up in Walnut Creek, CA and graduated from Las Lomas High School. Mr. B never indulged in sports, despite his almost 6’7” stature. He nearly failed PE! Always a unique soul, he just wanted to play guitar and be with his three daughters. A kind and gentle person, he was shopkeeper, classical guitarist, repairman, and teacher, living life in his white shirt and Levi’s jeans. Dad did his best running the shop for 47 years. He was suddenly very sick Summer 2021 and sadly we had to shut the shop doors. Dad passed away a week later on August 22, 2021. We miss him so much and hope to continue his legacy and keep the art of music playing alive!
